On the show developing...
"I think the show is figuring itself out, we're figuring out each other and the characters and still developing. It's one of those things that, unlike a movie, where you're packing it all into two hours and the characters develop and there are more poignant moments right out of the gate, these things kind of grow because it's something that people are watching every week. The relationships grow as the weeks go on and I am completely jazzed about it."
"I get excited when there's a commitment and something happens or changes, or I feel like Tru or myself are understanding something new or different through what she can do, or through understanding people."
"With each episode, she comes into contact with people from all walks of life. She's being thrust into these situations and these worlds that she never would have been a part of had this not happened to her. I think that it's cool when something clicks into each story and she understands something else, something new. That's what life is about, right? Different circumstances and different surroundings and lessons. That's what makes it real to me."
On the workload of Tru Calling...
"It's a lot of work. I never anticipated that it would take over my whole life. At the same time, I wanted to try something new and I'm actually enjoying it. I love working with such a great crew and being so absorbed in it, because then you don't have to think about it so much. Maybe there's more spontaneity, because we're ploughing through so much material in a day. You don't over-think it too much; you just kind of go with what feels most natural. Again, there's a certain realness that comes out of that. When it's not as rehearsed, when you don't have a week to go over a scene and over-think it, you just kind of go in and what comes is kind of natural and more spontaneous. I'm definitely a spontaneity chaser."
On FOX supporting the show...
"They definitely have shown support. It's totally flattering. We're really grateful. Look, no-one denies that it's the timeslot from Hell. Some people say, 'Oh, it's a great timeslot', but to start out on a night where everyone is aware and knows where the majority of viewers are, it's a little bit discouraging. At the same time, loyal fans from Buffy and audiences looking for something a little bit different have come, and the nice thing is they've decided to stay."
On the ratings...
"I'm learning about the TV world, about the politics - and that at the half-hour mark, if there's a rise in the audience, that's almost better than the number you started with, because it means people are tuning in and staying. So I'm learning a lot about demographics and shares and how TV runs as a business, whereas I didn't really pay that much attention to it on Buffy, because I walked into that when it was established. Now I'm carrying a show, I'm learning a lot, which is cool."
On Tru getting a car...
"Thank God! I think Phillip Noyce, with all due respect, had a little bit of a jonesin' for me running. I'm glad that we kind of chilled out on that. People were screaming out in the screening, 'Get a cab! Get some rollerblades!'"
On returning to Angel...
"I've never ruled out a return to the show. I said I would return to the show - before I got here and realised the workload. I haven't had the time, but I've always said that I love those guys and if I have any time at all I would love to go down and hang out with my peeps on Angel."
On leaving television if Tru fails...
"I don't really think so. I never really saw this as, 'I'm leaving film and going into television.' I choose roles based on the character, so I chose to come into this project because of the premise, because of the character, and because it was something new and different that I hadn't tried. So it wasn't about television or film. I know I'll do films again and I'm looking at scripts. In terms of having done this character for a year, my intention would be to do a film and kind of embody something else for a bit. I think that would be cool. But if the show doesn't come back, then it's been an awesome experience. I don't really think about it a lot. Everything is going to happen for a reason. Everything happens the way it does and I just kind of ride with it."
